Exxon shutting Baytown, Texas, refinery -spokesman

HOUSTON, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) was shutting its 567,000 barrel per day (bpd) refinery in Baytown, Texas, on Thursday due to Hurricane Ike, a spokesman said.

The company's 349,000 bpd Beaumont, Texas, refinery was continuing with normal operations, said Exxon spokesman Kevin Allexon.

The Baytown refinery is the largest in the United States. (Reporting by Erwin Seba)
