UPDATE 1-TransAlta prices C$400 mln 10-year MTNs

NEW YORK, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Canadian energy company TransAlta Corp (TA.TO) on Thursday priced C$400 million of 10-year medium-term notes, according to a market source.

The notes were priced to yield 6.44 percent or 290.2 basis points over the Canadian government benchmark.

The underwriting syndicate included the investment dealer arms of Royal Bank of Canada RY.TO, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CM.TO) and Bank of Nova Scotia BNS.T.O (Reporting by Caryn Trokie)
