Bloomberg said Iconix, which owns and licenses clothing brands including Candies, Joe Boxer and Rocawear, has looked at the men's magazine publisher's finances, citing one of the people. The article said the talks may not lead to a deal.

Playboy's shares rose 98 cents, or more than 34 percent, to $3.84 after the report.

Playboy declined to comment on the report. Iconix was not immediately available for a comment. (Reporting by Michael Erman, editing by Maureen Bavdek)
