NEW YORK, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Tropical Depression 4 formed in the far eastern Atlantic Ocean and could strengthen into a tropical storm during the next 24 hours, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said on Monday.

In an outlook issued at 11 a.m. EDT (15 GMT), the NHC said the center of the depression was located about 520 miles (837 km) west-southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands and about 2,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

The depression is moving toward the west near 21 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds near 35 mph, and could develop into a storm with winds of 39-73 mph in the next 24 hours.

The NHC will name the next tropical storm Dean.

The NHC expects to issue another advisory at 5 p.m.
