The unit, in Cason, Texas, about 130 miles east of Dallas, was expected to begin air start-up between Oct. 14 and 17, the report said.

The 1,584 MW Welsh plant consists of three 528 MW units.

One MW powers about 500 homes in Texas.

AEP's Southwest Electric Power Co subsidiary owns and operates the station.

AEP, of Columbus, Ohio, owns and operates more than 38,000 MW of generating capacity, markets energy commodities, and transmits and distributes electricity to more than 5 million customers in 11 states. (Reporting by Eileen Moustakis; Editing by Walter Bagley)
