Lampert reports 6 mln share stake in Sallie Mae

WASHINGTON, May 15 (Reuters) - Hedge fund manager and billionaire investor Edward Lampert reported on Thursday that his fund RBS Partners holds a 6 million share stake in Sallie Mae (SLM.N), the largest U.S. student loan company.

Lampert reported the fund's holdings as of March 31 in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The fund also reported a 1.4 million share stake in mortgage and vehicle fleet company PHH Corp (PHH.N), a 3.9 million share stake in commercial lender CIT Group Inc (CIT.N), a 747,500 share stake in home builder Centex Corp CTX.N, and a 605,000 share stake in home builder KB Home (KBH.N).
