Canadian actress Smith joins "CSI"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Canadian actress Lauren Lee Smith is joining "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" next season, filling the void left by the departure of Jorja Fox.

Details about her character are sketchy, but she will play a new sleuth joining the graveyard shift of the Las Vegas crimebusters.

The 27-year-old Vancouver native previously played a chef during three seasons of Showtime's lesbian drama "The L Word."
