NEW YORK, Aug 15 (Reuters) - The following financial services industry appointments were announced on Friday. To inform us of other job changes, please e-mail moves@thomsonreuters.com.

SLM Corp (SLM.N)

The education-lending company commonly known as Sallie Mae said on Friday that it promoted the following employees: Cecelia Dwyer to vice president, school marketing; Michael Maier, to vice president within the company's consumer lending businesses; Brandon McBride to vice president, private credit collection strategies; Doug St. Peters to vice president, portfolio management; Mike Walter to vice president, private credit collection operations; and Eric Watson to vice president and associate general counsel.

HANOVER INSURANCE GROUP INC (THG.N)

The insurer said it named Gary Kusumi president of its personal lines division. He will be based at the company's Worcester, Massachusetts, headquarters, and serve as a member of the executive leadership team. Kusumi formerly worked for GMAC insurance.

CIGNA Corp (CI.N)

The insurer said it named William Atwell president of CIGNA International. Atwell has most recently worked as a consultant for the retail financial services industry. He was previously employed by CIGNA from 1996 to 2000 in its healthcare division.

Axa Equitable Life Insurance Co

The Axa Group (AXAF.PA) unit has promoted Manish Agarwal to senior vice president of retail distribution. He joined retail distribution more than 2 years ago as a vice president, having previously worked in the company's strategic initiatives group. He joined Axa in 2005 from McKinsey & Co.
