LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The timing was right for Russell Crowe's "3:10 to Yuma" remake.

With no high-profile theatrical competition from the majors, the Western topped both the national home video sales and rental charts for the week ending January 13.

"Yuma" outsold incumbent champ "Resident Evil: Extinction" by a margin of 4-to-1 on Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart. Also new to the top 10 were "Dragon Wars" at No. 4, "Death Sentence" at No. 5, and "Sunshine" at No. 9.

On Home Media Magazine's video rental chart, "Yuma" shot to No. 1 with estimated rental revenue of $10.8 million, or 20% of the film's $53.6 million theatrical gross.

Last week's top renter, "War," slipped to No. 2, adding $9.7 million to its coffers. "War" has generated $21.5 million in rental revenue, $1 million short of its box office haul.

"Death Sentence" bowed at No. 5, "Dragon Wars" at No. 11 and "Sunshine" at No. 16.

On the HD front, "Yuma" topped the Blu-ray Disc chart, while "The Kingdom" remained the No. 1 HD DVD seller.
