KDDI, which will announce the deal on Wednesday, plans to purchase Tepco units Tepco Cable Television Inc and Kawagoe Cablevision Corp, both of which operate in Saitama Prefecture, near Tokyo, the Nikkei said without citing sources.

Tepco Cable Television has about 110,000 subscriber households, while Kawagoe Cablevision serves around 20,000, the Nikkei said.

The deal would boost the customer base of KDDI's cable division, Japan Cablenet, to about 730,000 households, raising its nationwide market share to slightly more than 10 percent, the Nikkei said. ($=90 yen) (Reporting by Ted Kerr; Editing by Andre Grenon)
