Earthquake shakes Los Angeles area

WASHINGTON, May 17 (Reuters) - A 5.0 magnitude earthquake shook the Los Angeles area on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The quake, centered southwest of Los Angeles 1 mile (1.609 km) east of Lennox, California, was 8.4 miles (13.52 km) deep.

A spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department said there were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
