Canada high court reserves judgment on BCE buyout
OTTAWA, June 17 (Reuters) - The Supreme Court of Canada reserved its judgment on Tuesday on whether to approve the C$34.8 billion ($34.1 billion) leveraged buyout of the country's largest telecom, BCE Inc (BCE.TO)(BCE.N)
The Supreme Court will announce its decision later on BCE's appeal of a lower court decision that the buyout plan, to be funded partly by taking on new debt, did not take adequate account of the interests of existing bondholders. The court did not say when it would render a judgment.
Bondholders had said before the Supreme Court ruling that a decision in their favor would effectively terminate the buyout plan from a Canadian-U.S. group of investors led by Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan.
