US STOCKS-Nasdaq gains 3 pct; Google leads advance

NEW YORK, April 18 (Reuters) - The Nasdaq added to gains in afternoon trading on Friday, rising 3 percent, as strong earnings from Google Inc (GOOG.O) ignited a rally in Internet stocks.

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI rose 267.06 points, or 2.12 percent, to 12,887.55. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was up 29.77 points, or 2.18 percent, at 1,395.33. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 70.38 points, or 3.01 percent, at 2,412.21. (Reporting by Caroline Valetkevitch, Editing by Kenneth Barry)
