Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac shares fall

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of Fannie Mae (FNM.N) and Freddie Mac (FRE.N) fell more than 8 percent in trading before the bell on Monday, after financial weekly Barron's reported that the U.S. Treasury is growing increasingly likely to recapitalize the two mortgage finance companies.

Fannie shares fell 8.3 percent to $7.25 and Freddie shares dropped 8.6 percent to $5.35.
