MONTREAL, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Bombardier Inc (BBDb.TO) said on Tuesday it was awarded a $381 million contract to supply commuter rail cars for Montreal's metropolitan transport agency.

Bombardier, the world No. 1 manufacturer of trains, and third-largest civil aircraft maker, said the order from the Quebec government was for 160 multilevel commuter rail cars.

First delivery of the railcars to the Agence Metropolitaine de Transport is planned for the third quarter of 2009. The stainless-steel cars will be manufactured at Bombardier's facilities in La Pocatiere, Quebec.

The contract includes a base order of 30 cars and options for 130 additional cars, but Quebec has decided to exercise all the options, Bombardier said.

Bombardier's class B shares were up 11 Canadian cents or 1.9 percent at C$5.81 on the Toronto Stock Exchange in morning trading.
