GM reviewing advertising, other contracts - sources

DETROIT, Nov 19 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp GM.N is reviewing its contracts with ad agencies and other vendors to see whether they should be renewed as the company battles a liquidity crisis amid plummeting auto sales, sources close to the company said.

GM spent $1 billion on advertising in the first half of this year, making it the third largest advertiser in the United States, according to TNS Media Intelligence.

A GM spokesperson said the company would not comment on specific contracts, but a source familiar with the matter said that all advertising contracts were under review as they come up for renewal. (Reporting by Nick Carey, Soyoung Kim and Paul Thomasch; Editing by Phil Berlowitz)
