WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will visit Britain, France, Italy and Germany during a trip to Europe June 9-16 and attend the U.S.-European Union summit in Slovenia, the White House said on Tuesday.

Bush will also commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Berlin airlift and the Marshall Plan of U.S. reconstruction aid for Europe after World War Two, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said.

Perino, noting close ties to Europe on economic, diplomatic and security issues, said Bush will also have a chance to meet with old and new friends, including Silvio Berlusconi, who last month won a third term as Italian prime minister.

Bush will also visit the Vatican on the trip, two months after Pope Benedict visited the White House on his first trip the United States as pontiff.
