Telmex sees Televisa, Azteca as content providers
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Telmex, Mexico's leading fixed-line phone operator, sees broadcasters Televisa (TV.N) and TV Azteca (TVAZTCACPO.MX) as the natural providers of content for when it launches its television services.
Carlos Slim, who controls Telefonos de Mexico, told Reuters Latin American Investment Summit on Thursday that the company was still awaiting final approval from Mexican authorities to add television to its existing phone and Internet packages.
Telmex (TMX.N) (TELMEXL.MX) will also seek content from other international producers to round out its offer for customers.
"We want our client to have what he wants, when he wants it," Slim said. .
