USDA's Schafer says no shortage of rice in U.S.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Reuters) - U.S. Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer said on Thursday that there was no evidence of a lack of rice availability in the United States.

He also said speculation was part of the issue over rice prices, which have soared to record highs amid worries about possible supply shortages.
