US FDA says has several issues with Theravance drug

WASHINGTON, Feb 25 (Reuters) - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said on Monday it canceled Wednesday's advisory panel review of an experimental Theravance Inc (THRX.O) antibiotic to allow time for the agency to resolve "several outstanding issues."

The FDA, in a notice sent to reporters, did not explain the issues with the antibiotic, called telavancin. The agency said it would continue evaluating the drug and would schedule an advisory panel meeting in the future "as needed."
