NEW YORK, Oct 26 (Reuters) - Valero Energy Corp (VLO.N) said Monday that a restarted 36,000 barrel-per-day hydrocracker unit at its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, was expected to be at planned rates within a few days.

Valero, the top U.S. oil refiner, had said on Sunday in an filing with Texas pollution regulators that it was restarting the unit at the west plant of the company's 315,000-bpd Corpus Christi refinery.

"The Corpus Christi West Plant HCU restarted over the weekend. It will be a few days before it is at planned rates," Valero spokesman Bill Day told Reuters in an email on Monday.

The gasoil HCU was shut on Thursday to repair a leak found after the unit restarted on Oct. 18, after being shut by a small fire on Oct 7. (Reporting by Haitham Haddadin; Editing by Walter Bagley)
