Morrissey mulling Warner Bros. deal

Tue Jun 26, 2007 3:52am EDT

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Morrissey may return to Warner Bros. for his next studio album, he said during a fan Q&A on the True to You Web site (true-to-you.net).

The former Smiths frontman issued his last two studio albums, "You are the Quarry" and "Ringleader of the Tormenters," through British music firm Sanctuary Group, which has been struggling since mid-2005 following bad business decisions.

Morrissey recorded for the Warner Bros. family from 1988-1995; a return to the company would presumably allow for a new stream of compilations and archival releases.

"I presently have the option to tour for the remainder of 2007, or start a new album," he said on True to You.

"I don't have a deal, but I have an offer from Warner Brothers. At the same time, there are some great touring offers -- New Zealand, South Africa, my beloved Scandinavia, Israel and Iran. I would love to sing in Tehran."
