Small quake hits Chile mining region, no damages
The quake struck at 8:40 p.m. (2340 GMT) and was centered 41 miles (65 km) east-northeast of the mining town of Calama, according to the U.S. Geological Survey, near one of Chile's largest copper mines, Codelco Norte.
A spokesman at the mine, owned by state-owned company Codelco, said the quake had had no impact.
"Everything is normal," he told Reuters by telephone.
On Nov. 14, a 7.7 magnitude quake in the same region collapsed homes and buildings, killing two people and injuring 115, and there have been a number of aftershocks since then. (Reporting by Pav Jordan; editing by Mohammad Zargham)
