BoA to fund and provide information to MIT lab
NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuters) - Bank of America (BAC.N) said on Tuesday it would fund an arm of the MIT Sloan School of Management in a collaboration that would give the bank access to some of the school's financial research.
Bank of America also agreed to provide information to MIT's Laboratory for Financial Engineering (LFE), to be used in the research. A statement from the two did not say how much funding the bank would provide.
The research -- developed jointly by the Massachusetts-based school and the North Carolina-based bank -- would cover "computational finance, quantitative analytics and risk-reward tradeoffs," the statement said.
"This collaboration will enable Bank of America to get an early look at game-changing research that is important not only to banking activities, but also towards improving the banking experience of its customers."
LFE Director Andrew Lo said in the statement the information provided by Bank of America will enable the school to develop and analyze the recent turmoil in credit markets and the hedge-fund industry. (Reporting by Jonathan Spicer; Editing by Gary Hill)
