LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Now that Julia Louis-Dreyfus has broken the so-called "Seinfeld" curse, her former co-star Jason Alexander is taking another stab at a network comedy project.

Alexander has joined the cast of an untitled ABC cop comedy pilot, in which he will guest-star as the internal affairs superintendent responsible for tracking down "bad apples."

If the project goes to series, he is set to recur during the show's initial order and would become a regular if it goes beyond that.

After "Seinfeld" ended its run in 1998, Alexander starred in ABC's short-lived 2001 series "Bob Patterson" and CBS' "Listen Up," which ran during the 2004 season. Fellow "Seinfeld" alumnus Michael Richards had a self-titled show in 2000, while Louis-Dreyfus scored some success and an Emmy for her second post-"Seinfeld" comedy "The New Adventures of Old Christine," which is in its second season at CBS.

Alexander will next be seen in the feature "The Grand," which is slated to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York (April 25-May 6). He also will host PBS' Fourth of July special.
