Canada gov't says won't change financing proposal
OTTAWA, Nov 28 (Reuters) - The Canadian government will not back down from a controversial proposal to scrap public financing for political parties, the chief spokesman for Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Friday.
Opposition parties are threatening to bring down the minority Conservative government over the plan.
"We're not anticipating changing our agenda," top Harper spokesman Kory Teneycke told CTV television when asked whether Ottawa could compromise on the financing plan.
Pressed by the interviewer as to whether there would be any changes, he replied "No". (Reporting by David Ljunggren; editing by Peter Galloway)
