0756 ET 28Apr2008 RTRS-US STOCKS-Futures rise on takeover news, oil's surge
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
U.S. stock futures rose on Monday, helped by news of a likely $22 billion
takeover of chewing gum maker Wm Wrigley Jr Co WWY.N and record crude oil
prices, which could lift shares of energy companies.
Expectations that a takeover battle for Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O) by Microsoft
Corp (MSFT.O) could intensify kept the technology sector on the front burner.
The latest all-time high in oil prices came when U.S. crude for June
delivery climbed to $119.93 a barrel in electronic trading, boosted by supply
concerns.
