Troy Williamson traded to Jaguars
MIAMI (Reuters) - The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired wide receiver Troy Williamson from the Minnesota Vikings in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick this year, the team said on Friday.
Williamson, 24, started eight of 11 games last season for the Vikings, recording 18 receptions for 240 yards including a 60-yard touchdown.
"He's certainly explosive," wide receivers coach Todd Monken said on the Jaguars official website (www.jaguars.com). "He'll play physical and can get down the field."
A first-round pick for the Vikings in the 2005 draft, Williamson did not live up to his billing in three seasons with Minnesota. His dropped-passes count mounted and he had 79 receptions for 1,067 yards and three touchdowns in 39 games.
"His troubles in catching the ball have come down the field when it was obvious he was going to go the distance," Monken added. "That's the thing that's been discouraging, that he could get behind you but couldn't finish.
"I'm thrilled to have him. You want to work with guys you think you can improve."
