U.S. Midwest business expands in Nov - Chicago PMI

CHICAGO, Nov 30 (Reuters) - Business activity in the U.S. Midwest returned to expansion in November and grew at a faster rate than expected, a report showed on Friday.

The National Association of Purchasing Management-Chicago business barometer rose to 52.9 from 49.7 in October. Economists surveyed by Reuters had forecast the index at 50.3. A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

The employment component of the index rose to 54.4 from 49.5 in October. Prices paid rose to 76.2 from 74.7 and new orders were unchanged at 53.9. (Reporting by Ros Krasny; Editing by James Dalgleish)
