Midwest to offer 2 classes of seats on all flights
NEW YORK, May 29 (Reuters) - Midwest Air Group Inc. MEH.A, which is trying to evade a takeover by rival AirTran Holdings Inc. (AAI.N), said on Tuesday it will offer two classes of seats on all flights by next year, boosting its overall seat capacity 12.5 percent.
Midwest, parent of Midwest Airlines, said its dual seating option includes wide, leather "Signature" seats arranged in rows of two, and smaller "Saver" seats. The seats will be available this fall on flights of its longer-distance MD-80 aircraft and in mid-2008 on its Boeing Co. (BA.N) 717 fleet.
Overall, the company projects the move will generate an additional $30 million to $35 million in annualized revenues.
