Rogers returns to the Tigers for 20th big-league season

DETROIT (Reuters) - Veteran left-hander Kenny Rogers has agreed a one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers, the team said on Friday.

Terms of the deal were not released but Detroit media reported the deal was worth about $8 million.

Rogers, 43, was 3-4 with a 4.43 earned run average last season with the Tigers, his 19th season in the majors. He has a career mark of 210-143 with a 4.19 ERA.

"We are pleased to have Kenny back in a Tigers uniform for the 2008 season," Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said in a statement. "Kenny is a veteran presence that stabilizes our starting rotation."

Rogers will join Justin Verlander, Jeremy Bonderman and Nate Robertson in the Tigers' starting rotation.

Detroit finished second in the American League's Central Division in 2007 with a 88-74 record.
