Shares of mortgage lenders slide

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Shares of American Home Mortgage Investment Corp. AHM.N extended their slide before the bell on Monday, falling more than 44 percent to $5.85 after the mortgage lender said late on Friday it faces margin calls on its credit facilities.

Hot Stocks

The stock had closed at $10.47 on the New York Stock Exchange.

Other mortgage lenders falling included Countrywide Financial Corp. CFC.N, down 3.4 percent to $28.85 and Novastar Financial Inc. NFI.N, down 8.9 percent to $14.80.
