US FCC upholds decision against Time Warner Cable
WASHINGTON, Oct 30 (Reuters) - U.S. federal communications regulators upheld on Thursday a decision against Time Warner Cable (TWC.N) involving sports programming in a dispute related to the acquisition of cable assets from a rival.
The Federal Communications Commission upheld the findings of an arbitrator that the cable giant discriminated against Mid-Atlantic Sports Network by refusing to carry the programming in North Carolina.
The FCC had approved Time Warner Cable's acquisition of assets from Adelphia Communications Corp, subject to certain conditions, including that it arbitrate with regional sports networks for carriage rights.
Adelphia was the fifth-largest U.S. cable firm before its 2002 collapse, and its assets were sold off.
