US mortgage bond issuance falls in H1-Thomson Reuters

NEW YORK, June 30 (Reuters) - U.S. mortgage-backed securities issuance totaled $117.4 billion in the first half of 2008, down from $622.1 billion in the same period a year earlier, Thomson Reuters said on Monday.

Bank of America Securities LLC (BAC.N) was the top underwriter of U.S. mortgage-backed securities for the first half of 2008, a survey showed.

Bank of America Securities LLC underwrote 25 issues of mortgage-backed bonds, totaling $20.2 billion, a 17.2 percent market share.
