OSLO, Aug 28 (Reuters) - Norway's StatoilHydro (STL.OL) has made a new gas discovery in Algeria's Hassi Mouina licence area, the company said on Thursday.

StatoilHydro said that the appraisal well, dubbed Tinerkouk 2 (TNK-2), well tested dry gas and was the sixth positive well that it has drilled in the area so far.

"StatoilHydro and partner Sonatrach are pleased with the results of the well," StatoilHydro said in a statement. It did not give a volume estimate.

StatoilHydro has a 75 percent interest and Algeria's Sonatrach 25 percent in Hassi Mouina.
