French group Wendel 2006 net profit falls, raises div

PARIS, March 28 (Reuters) - French investment company Wendel Investissement (MWDP.PA) reported lower profits but higher dividends on Wednesday as it announced a simplication of its group structure and plans to list its Bureau Veritas holding. The French group generated a net profit of 365 million euros

($487.3 million), down from 416 million in 2005, after reporting no one-off items in 2006 compared with 132 million euros in gains in 2005.

Wendel Investissements proposed the payment of an ordinary dividend of 1.70 euro per share, up 21 percent year on year, as well as an exceptional dividend of 0.30 euro per share.
