BEIJING, Dec 25 (Reuters) - China Investment Corp (CIC), the country's fledgling sovereign wealth fund, has not bought into Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ.AX) (ANZ), the fund's chairman said on Tuesday.

A spokesman for ANZ said earlier this month that a Chinese government fund had bought a less than 5 percent stake in the lender.

Asked whether CIC was the government fund that had bought into ANZ, Lou Jiwei, head of the investment fund, said: "We haven't bought into it." (Reporting by Eadie Chen; Writing by Jason Subler; Editing by Edmund Klamann)
