SEOUL, Aug 20 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Wednesday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

DONG-A ILBO

South Korea's ruling and opposition parties finally reached an agreement to revise a livestock disease law that will apply to beef and other meat imports, ending an 82-day parlimentary deadlock.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

The average South Korean has 3.78 credit cards, second only to their counterparts in the United States, according to a Bank of Korea report.

Measures aimed at stabilising the property market, including eased pricing rules for new homes, are expected to be announced around August 21, according to the government.

KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY

The National Pension Service, the largest shareholder in South Korea's top retail lender Kookmin Bank 060000.KS, said it had decided to give its approval for the bank's plan to transform itself into a holding firm.

North Korea and Russia are expected to start restoring a railway that would link North Korea's Rajin port to Russia's Khasan as early as next month, according to a Korea Railroad official.

Former LG Electronics (066570.KS) vice president Kim Ssang-soo has been appointed the new CEO of state-run power monopoly Korea Electric Power Co (015760.KS)

JOONGANG ILBO

Korea Development Bank, a top shareholder in Daewoo Shipbuilding (042660.KS), will put up a public notice for the sale of the world's No.3 shipbuilder on August 22, the bank said.
