The country's corporates are expected to invest more than 20 trillion won ($19.15 billion) in local cities and provinces, after signing contracts with local authorities in the government-sponsored Korea Regional Investment Fair.
The majority Grand National Party elected Park Hee-tae, former Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, as its new leader on Thursday.

Hwang Young-ki, former chairman of Woori Financial Holdings (053000.KS), was appointed the first chairman of KB Financial Holdings, which will include top South Korean lender Kookmin Bank 060000.KS.

Yonsei University is set to build a School of Good Governance affiliated with the United Nations (UN) in 2010, the first UN higher education institution in South Korea, the university said.
The National Pension Service (NPS), the world's fifth-largest pension fund, will seek to buy a stake in state-run banks such as Korea Development Bank when they are privatised, NPS President Park Hae-choon said. He also added that NPS would actively join bids for Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine (042660.KS) and Hyundai Engineering & Construction (000720.KS).
