SEOUL, Jan 7 (Reuters) - The following is a summary of major South Korean newspapers on Wednesday, prepared by Reuters in Seoul. Reuters has not checked the stories and does not guarantee their accuracy.

DONG-A ILBO

Political conflict among elites in North Korea seems to be deepening under the mandate of Chang Sung-taek, a senior Workers' Party official and brother-in-law to North Korean leader Kim Jong-il, a North Korea specialist said.

MAEIL BUSINESS NEWSPAPER

To limit the surge in stock investment from tax havens and overseas tax evasion, South Korea is going to sign up for Joint International Tax Shelter Information Centre, JITSIC, as the sixth member country, according to government souces.

KOREA ECONOMIC DAILY

SC First Bank, a South Korean banking arm of Standard Chartered (STAN.L), asked Seoul Central District Court to review its decision approving an injunction against some currency option deals. The company plans to appeal if the request is dismissed.
