Samsung Elec sees stronger phone business in Q3

SEOUL, July 13 (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (005930.KS), the world's No. 3 mobile phone maker, said on Friday its handset business has strong potential to improve in terms of revenue, shipments and selling prices in the current quarter.

Samsung, which saw record mobile phone sales in the second quarter but a lower average selling price against the first quarter, plans to further diversify its handset models for emerging markets, said David Steel, vice president of its telecommunication division.
