Barrick Gold says confident of meeting '08 output target

SINGAPORE, April 8 (Reuters) - Canada's Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) Corp (ABX.TO), the world's biggest gold miner, said on Tuesday that it is confident of meeting its output target of up to 8.1 million ounces of gold in 2008. "We have full confidence of meeting our guidance for 2008," Barrick Gold Executive Vice President Alexander Davidson, told Reuters on the sidelines of a mining conference.

Barrick, which has 27 operating mines, produced 8.06 million ounces in 2007 and said it expects to produce between 7.6 million and 8.1 million ounces of gold and between 380 and 400 million pounds of copper this year. (Reporting by Daryl Loo; editing by Saeed Azhar)
