China's Huaneng Power says chairman Li resigns

SHANGHAI, June 3 (Reuters) - Huaneng Power International Inc (0902.HK) (600011.SS), China's largest independent power producer, said on Tuesday that its chairman, Li Xiaopeng, son of former Chinese Premier Li Peng, has resigned.

Huaneng Power Vice Chairman Huang Yongda will serve as acting chairman until a new chairman is elected, the company said in a statement.

The company did not say why Li had resigned, but it added that Li had no disagreement with the company and that he was not aware of any matter relating to his resignation that needed to be brought to shareholders' attention.

The former premier's daughter, Li Xiaolin, is chief executive of China Power International Development Ltd (2380.HK), another major Chinese power company. (Reporting by Edmund Klamann; Editing by Ken Wills)
