PC shipments in Asia ex-Japan up 18 pct in Q1-IDC

SHANGHAI, April 20 (Reuters) - Personal computer sales in Asia excluding Japan rose 18 percent year-on-year to 12.7 million units in the first quarter of 2007, according to preliminary data released on Friday.

Lenovo Group (0992.HK) again had the biggest market share, accounting for 17.8 percent of shipments in the first quarter against 21.5 percent in the previous quarter, research firm International Data Corp. said.

But Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ.N), in second place, made gains as its share rose to 15.4 percent from 13.2 percent.
