Thu Jan 24, 2008 11:24pm EST

SHANGHAI, Jan 25 (Reuters) - China's airports will cut fees on foreign airlines, which pay two to three times more than Chinese carriers, in a move to be carried out within five years and aimed at boosting competitiveness, state media reported on Friday.

The aviation regulator, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, will issue rules soon that will require major airports to cut landing and take-off fees, while allowing small airports to raise charges, Shanghai Securities News said.

The report did not say when the new rules would be released. (Reporting by Fang Yan; editing by Dominic Whiting)
