THE STRAITS TIMES

- Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced a raft of measures that will cost the government S$700 million ($496 million) a year, bringing the total amount to S$1.6 billion it spends on promoting marriage and parenthood. - Exports of goods made here are suffering their worst slump since the 2001 dot.com crash with the third straight month of decline.

BUSINESS TIMES

- TRI-M Technologies (S) Ltd TRIM.SI, an electronics contract manufacturer on the Singapore Exchange watch-list since March following three straight years of pre-tax losses, yesterday said it is entering into a China crude-oil venture through a S$203 million ($144 million) acquisition.

- Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), one of the top sponsors of the Beijing Olympics, is in talks with Singapore's sports authorities to find ways of promoting the first-ever Youth Olympic Games to be held in the Lion City in 2010.
