THE STRAITS TIMES

- Laboratory tests on a Singaporean undergraduate, who had a running nose after he returned from an exchange programme in Mexico, showed that the student had not been infected by any Influenza A virus.

- A survey by a think-tank has found that eight in 10 Singaporeans prefer to rely on themselves than on the government in these difficult economic times.

- Thermal scanners went up at Singapore's two land checkpoints on Sunday, as health checks at the borders became tighter.

BUSINESS TIMES

- The combined first-quarter profits of 81 companies listed on the Singapore Exchange fell 39.5 per cent year-on-year to S$1.15 billion ($781 million), a reflection of weaker demand amid a slowing global economy.
