Samsung Elec says Q2 chip margin fell to 8 pct

SEOUL, July 13 (Reuters) - Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (005930.KS), the world's top memory chip maker, said on Friday its profit margin for the semiconductor division fell to 8 percent in the second quarter from 12 percent in the first.

The company also said shipments of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips rose 31 percent while NAND flash shipments grew 11 percent from the first quarter.
