MULTAN, Pakistan (Reuters) - A bomb exploded on a flyover in the central Pakistan city of Multan on Friday, killing at least 2 people and wounding several -- including a anti-terrorism judge, police and officials said.

"Two people have been killed and some seven wounded in the blast," civil defense official Mohammad Mazhar Ahmad told Reuters.

Anti-terrorism special court judge Mohammad Bashir Bhatti was among the wounded, Assistant Inspector Mohammad Azmat Khan said.

Pakistan is in the midst of a nationwide security scare following a series of suicide bomb attacks that started after a military air strike in mid-January against compounds used by al Qaeda and Taliban fighters in the country's tribal lands, close to the Afghan border.

The country is braced for further retaliation by militant groups as President Pervez Musharraf has come under pressure from the United States to stop al Qaeda rebuilding its network from Pakistan, and to stem the flow of Taliban fighters crossing the border to join the Afghan insurgency.
