White Sox tie record with four straight home runs
CHICAGO (Reuters) - The Chicago White Sox became just the sixth Major League team to hit four consecutive home runs in one inning during their 9-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Thursday.
The White Sox achieved the rare feat in the sixth inning, beginning with designated-hitter Jim Thome's three-run blast off Royals reliever Joel Peralta.
Paul Konerko and Alexei Ramirez followed with solo homers against Peralta, who was then relieved by Robinson Tejeda.
Juan Uribe then delivered the record-tying shot off of Tejeda to left field.
"I didn't know the home run I hit made history," Uribe told reporters. "I feel good to be a part of that record."
Catcher Toby Hall's bid to make Chicago the first-ever team with five straight homers ended with a strikeout, however.
Thome's home run was his 25th of the season, and the 532nd of his career.
